Graduation

I figured since it's that time of year again I would post what I made when my daughter graduated from 8th grade last year.

I'll start with the invitation.  In the zeros of 2010 I put my daughter's kindergarten graduation photo, and 8th grade graduation photo.  I can't believe how much she has grown.
Next is the gift bag.  The decorations I bought for her party had primary colored stars so I figured the gift bags should match.
I used the 5 colors represented here on the bag and just rotated the colors around.  I matched the ink on the tag with whatever color the large center star was.  I used JustRite Stampers for the tag.
Here is a closeup of the tag.
Inside the bags I put 3 sour cream containers.

For this sour cream container I used a picture of my daughter.

I also put 2 chocolate covered Oreo cookies in each bag.

Finally I made her an autograph book. Autograph books were a big thing when I was kid. SILS were the initials of her school.  I used a graffiti font I found on dafont.com, and black and neon colors for the title.  I used my Bind-it-all to put together. This is the front cover.

Softball Bucket

My daughter loves pitching so I figured I had to get one of those buckets that at one time or another you can find dedicated parents sitting on catching for their daughters during pitching practice.  I picked up this grey bucket at Lowes, unfortunately it had a huge logo on one side.
I decided that I wanted to embellish the bucket with a softball theme. It's kind of difficult to fit all the details into the photographs. This is a huge softball, and inside the softball are the names of some pitches.

off to the side is a silhouette of a softball pitcher.
Next is a better look at the pitcher...
and the other side of the bucket says Fastpitch Maggie.

I know it seems crazy but I couldn't get the song Mustang Sally out of my head, and I thought Fastpitch Maggie was a cute take on that.

I used neon sign vinyl for everything except the pitchers silhouette.  For that I used glossy black vinyl.

I got the pitchers silhouette from:

and I got the baseball that I used as a softball from:

Baby Shower

I cannot believe how much time has passed since my last post.  I'm finally going to post the other stuff I made for the baby shower.

This is a little bucket I bought in the dollar section of Target.  When I saw them I figured I could use them for something for the baby  shower.
I originally bought 4 buckets but while I was trying to figure out how I wanted to decorate them I destroyed one.
I changed the ribbon color and stamped and embossed the hand prints and footprints on velum, ran them through my Xyron and stuck them to the bucket. I cut the onsie from the Cricut New Arrival cartridge, and then stamped and embossed the name Liam on it.  I also bought one large wood dowel that I cut into four equal parts and wrapped them in the same blue ribbon as the bow. I finished it off with shredding some of the paper that I used for the onsie and used it to cover a foam square that I put in each bucket to hold the wooden dowel in place. I used the buckets as centerpieces.
For favors I made chocolate covered oreo cookies in dark blue chocolate and then decorated them with different edible sugar decorations. I put them into individual bags and made toppers matching the ongoing theme of light and dark blue and baby hand and footprints.
These are close ups...
and the final item for the baby shower was of course a diaper cake.  Here it is completely naked...
I went back and forth about the color scheme for the diaper cake. I went with the jungle/safari theme because that is the how the mom-to-be is decorating the nursery.
Here is the diaper cake all dressed up, side 1...

side 4...
This is the largest diaper cake I have ever made. It was 5 tiers and a total of 287 diapers. Usually I buy so much stuff for the cake I have lots of stuff left over, not this time. In fact, I had empty spaces so I cut animals out on my cricut that matched the cake to help fill in the gaps.
and here it is all wrapped up.
